Good Luck Knots, May 2023

The Good Luck talismans are made with vintage and found materials with beads made from pulped diary pages. In many cultures, knots were historically used to record important events; they are both symbols and everyday tools that can express a multitude of thoughts and feelings. These works are inspired by that complicated excitement one might experience when starting a brand new diary. Traditional Chinese knotting techniques are juxtaposed with an eclectic assemblage approach. These ornaments can be used to ward off evil spirits and to add a festive element to the household.
