Your intentions walk towards you, May 2024
mixed media installation for Asian Heritage Month at Morrow (AHMM) Festival
Odd Meridian Arts, Vancouver BC
photos and video by Stephan Wright, documentation by me
Your intentions walk towards you explores Sauha’s heritage and ancestry. While this installation is about cultural curiosity, she seeks to expand her creative drive away from the “Where am I from?” dialogue. The title,Your intentions walk towards you, is inspired by a lyric from the song “Poem of Dead Song” by Broadcast. In it there is a candle-like sculpture representing a deity; however, it is unclear what form this god takes. It is made with left over candles ends gathered from her community. Viewers were invited to write down an intention and put it under one of the 'weights' provided.
